…and welcome to our new BizEdge Blog. We will be advising and reporting on the small business advantage plays that are emerging through Internet marketing and social media.
Whether or not you choose at this time to utilize Merchant Card Services from 1st National Processing and the Merchant Services Partnership we invite you to subscribe to our new blog, we promise to keep it up-to-date and informative.
At 1st National Processing, we are beginning to embrace social media as a powerful marketing and branding tool – and, we’ve yet to think of one business that couldn’t benefit from some sort of social media component in their marketing and advertising mix.
However, there are still skeptics. One of the most common questions that we get from them is, “do you think it’s a fad?”
Watch this short exciting video – it paints a powerful picture of the rapid growth and pervasiveness of social media. The video is a stealth promo of last year’s best seller Socionomics by Eric Qualman and it is must reading for any serious business owner… but at least watch the 4-minute video, guaranteed to expand your horizons.
We believe that it’s here to stay…at least until the next paradigm shift occurs. It’s completely changing the way businesses engage with their customers and is not slowing down.
And stay tuned as we research and share ways for small business owners to catch this new wave of business potential!
Viva La Revolución!

This is a fabulous presentation on social media and it implications for small businesses. Thank you for sharing this! Anyone who thinks that social media is just a fad and not a fundamental paradigm shift need only search Google news and note the shear volume of news articles daily underscoring the across the board impact its having on all manner of industries. “Right here, right now!”
Great video! Great idea for a blog! According to Student Pulse, Twitter. Facebook. Digg. MySpace. LinkedIn… the list of social media tools could probably run on for paragraphs, and today’s technology changes so rapidly that many industries can barely keep up. In the traditional world, newspapers, corporations, governments, or other types of leading organizations simply had to give out information, and people would consume it by reading or looking at it. But this seemingly tried-and-true method has started to transform. Simply making information available is not enough for today’s public. Today’s audiences expect to be able to choose what they read, and most believe they should be able to contribute content and opinions, too. This social media shift is the birth of a democratic movement that emphasizes transparency, honesty, and giving a voice to the person who doesn’t have one. So yes, I concur – hooray the revolution! dm
[...] We made a compelling case, previously, that small businesses need to embrace the exploding social media now, or be left behind. (see Small Biz Social Media Revolution) [...]
With the new upgrade at Facebook comes a new opportunity to build name recognition as well as an opportunity for building link authority. I have searched Google for news about the new Facebook updates. While there is much talk of the tabs going away and other changes to the look of the Facebook business pages, I found virtually nothing about the improved integration for websites. Not even from Facebook. This surprises me because the impact on link building is huge.
